1) Don't go to the Platinum mall, Bankok for shopping. For first time visitors, it looks like the obvious choice and that's what we did too. It's much more expensive and there's less scope to bargain. Opposite the Platinum mall is Kruthong Plaza where you can find a huge variety of clothes at a wholesale price.

2) Use public transport instead of taking cabs.
Bangkok has wonderful metro/subway connectivity. It will help you save a ton of money and time. If you are landing at Suvarnabhumi Airport, Bangkok, make sure you carry some Thai Baht. They do not accept credit cards and other payment modes at the station.

3) The most famous Chatuchak market is only open during the weekend. We didn't check this and planned our shopping day on a Monday and only got to know this only when we reached there. It was the last day of our Thailand.
